Born and raised in Westchester, New York, Dr. Anisha Kumar is an accomplished plastic surgeon specializing in the face and neck.  Dr. Kumar received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University and her medical degree from Stanford University. She continued her rigorous education by completing her residency at Johns Hopkins in Otolaryngology, a specialty that is solely dedicated to learning complex anatomy of the face and neck. At Johns Hopkins, she trained under premier surgeons and conducted extensive research on patient values in facial plastic surgery and hair transplant procedures. She graduated as chief resident with over a dozen of peer-reviewed publications, multiple book chapters, and numerous podium presentations at national academy meetings.

Recognizing her surgical talents and astute eye for facial aesthetics, she pursued further training as a fellow in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the prestigious Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. 

Dr. Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Otolaryngology at Stony Brook University, where she has established herself as a leader in artificial intelligence applications for surgical care. Her research program focuses on AI-driven facial analysis, computer vision for surgical competency assessment, and developing culturally sensitive frameworks for facial aesthetics evaluation. Dr. Kumar is an active member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and serves on multiple committees of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, including Medical Informatics and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She is also a peer reviewer for the journal of Facial Plastic Surgery Medicine and Aesthetic Surgery and for the journal of Facial Plastic Surgery.
