Born and raised in Westchester, New York, Dr. Anisha Kumar is an accomplished surgeon specializing in the face and neck. She received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University and her medical degree from Stanford University, and completed her residency in Otolaryngology at Johns Hopkins, where she graduated as chief resident with over a dozen peer-reviewed publications, multiple book chapters, and numerous podium presentations at national meetings. She subsequently completed a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

Dr. Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Otolaryngology at Stony Brook University and a faculty affiliate of the AI Innovation Institute (AI3). She is dual board certified in Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, with additional certification from the American Board of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (ABAIM). She is the founder and director of the SPECTRA Lab, a translational research group focused on the development and equitable application of artificial intelligence in surgery.

She is an active member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and serves on the Medical Informatics and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery committees of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
